The Word Mavens

The Nitty: To create an web-based format to introduce and talk about their book, book tour, and individual accomplishments.

The Gritty: A valid XHTML/CSS site created to detail The Word Mavens and their latest book “The JPS Dictionary of Jewish Words” and it's accompanying Book Talk tour.

A great example of a content-based, nothing extravagant, “just the words and the audience” type of site. A format that worked best for both the client and the type of work they do: communcate. From the evolving color scheme as you travel through the information to the inclusion of Jewish words and definitions related to each page, the process of developing this site shows the value that open communication, great written content, and the abilty to “play around” with ideas can have on the successful creation of a webspace that both the authors and I can be proud of.

Formally, I found it very easy to keep this site within the WC3 recommended standards and had very few cross-browser issues that needed attantion. And, I must admit, the CSS style sheet has to be one of the best, most intuitive, and clever that I have written to date.
