The Nitty: To create an online ecommerce space using HTML5, CSS3, PHP, JQuery and non-profit marketing tactics to operate a not-for-profit charity drive online.
The Gritty: BuddhaBadges arose when a discarded badge machine needed a new purpose: over a year later BuddhaBadges has 50+ badge designs selling to donors all over the globe. In 2010, BuddhaBadges was able to donate over $2000 to charities worldwide through connections made via social media.
Crafting a flexible and easy to manage site—but not limiting myself to a CMS so I could use it as a personal experimental playground—BuddhaBadges runs on the latest HTML5 semantics, has some CSS3 features for compatible browsers, and utilizes the latest Javascript/AJAX library JQuery and some PHP.
A wonderful side-project in which I can flex my social marketing and web development muscles to assist some great causes help those in need.
